Hum while you work through the night

Even though the electricity in those wire might share an ethereal existence with the sleep-driven Sun, the electrons keep flowing through the night -- humming silent songs as they work.

The shot is in Beaumont, Texas -- I think it was on Cardinal Drive coming home from work one night.

Here the sun is setting and our inverter is shutting down for the night as the solar cells have nothing more to give. I'm glad to be tied into the grid.

I really like this shot. The silhouettes and the lines of the wires are wonderful against that soft golden sky.

Even ugly things can look beautiful when silhouetted by a sunset.

A stunning shot! And as J Bar says, even ugly things can look beautiful and even if they didn't, the trees etched against the sky make it a gorgeous catch!

Wowza....electric lines I usually would take shot without those. But in this case, it works! Great Sky Watch post.

Nicely shot. I love the hint of reflection.

I always try to take photos that don't show the utility poles and wires, but this is beautiful ---and someone posted one last week with large electrical towers that I liked, too. Maybe I'll start looking for the wires instead of trying to eliminate them from my viewfinder.

Damn trees! ;-)

What a great photo. The poles and the lines really do have a beautiful effect and you've got yourself a fantastic photo! A perk of the job!

What an array of power lines! Nice sky behind them.

Lovely sunset photo -- the soft silhouette of the trees juxtapose nicely with the linear electric poles and lines! :)
