Sunflower-- the Dance of Spring

A sunflower will emerge, but it this moment, the orchestra is playing the Dance of Spring.

Azalea pollen going fast

The Azaleas in the front of our house exploded into spring's color party this past week and then in a few days, the ground was littered with glories gone.  As I shared my photo shot with a bee in a fury to find the dwindling supply of nectar, I wondered about the market scheme Azalea's use -- everybody in the shopping center (Azalea bush) advertise at one time, splashing up a color flag no bee could miss.

Spring is unfurling

I have been noticing this year how many things "unfurl" in the Spring.

The pollen glide path

The petal of this iris looks like a glide path into the pollen port.  Spring has a job to do, and over the years has developed a lot of techniques to get it done.

Springing colors

Spring has uploaded its palette and painting life's springing.

A child's enchantment

Grandpa's hat, a cane stick, a boardwalk, and all the imagination a five-year-old can tap into being on a warm spring day.  A magic place. A place where you invite enchanting thoughts and give them comfort.

Spring casualites

Spring splendor is spilling out.  Yet, even in the primal spring of life, there are casualties.  A brilliant azalea flower drops, preyed upon by Spring's heavy breath.

Another along-the-road-to-Austin shot.  it Spring and this Cactus is taking full advantage of the opportunity. It you can see it, there is a spider web strung like a bridge across the top buds-- no spot on earth is too remote or dangerous for these industrious insects

Along the highway the other day, I spotted this cactus doing its best Spring impression -- prickling upward and protecting its turf.

Life on a tree

I am not much of an expert on plants, but I suppose this hairy ball growing on a tree limb is a vermiliad of some kind.  The flowers looked pretty dried out for a Spring season.

Spring brandishes fuschias, citrons

You can change the addage -- this year, it's April showers bring April flowers.  After a long, cold winter, the flowers seem even more eager than ever to volcano into an exclamation of color.
